Review:
It’s the year’s best fantasy and horror complied for 2001! In the 15th annual collection of the year’s best fantasy and horror Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling cumulate nearly every book recently published, listing their favorites, as well as their worst. And then, we get to the stories!! Tales spun by Jane Yolen, Charles de Lint, Graham Joyce, Christopher Fowler, and Marion Arnott, to name just a handful of the fifty authors whose short stories made it into the book. Each one of these stories is positively delightful, and still, distinctly different.
Such taste our editors have. Not once in the books’ five hundred and forty-two pages was I urged to put it down. This book is a definite must have for any fantasy or horror lover. I don’t mean simply for the stories it contains either. The names, titles and suggestions Datlow and Windling mention are more than enough to keep anyone then the most active reader well read for a full year… at which time their next compilation comes out, of course.
