Review: It was a time of unending war and magic. The mage of Silence, called Urtho, battled the mage of Dark Flames, Ma'ar. It was an age of blood, and to be born anew in a special gryphon's heart. That gryphon is Skandranon Rashkae, The Black Gryphon, known fo rhis stark black feathers and his prowess as a warrior.

He and the Kestra'chern, Amberdarke, play key parts in the waging of the war. While Skandranon recovers from an injury acquired in a rescue mission, a new gryphon come into view; 6th Wing East's Zhaneel. Lithe, fast and small, she has earned the highest possible award for a fighter, a gold square token. Zhaneel then stepped out of the ranks of Gryphons by training herself, and in doing so attracted the attention of the great Skandranon.

First they must be freed from their chains. Then, the cunning Skandranon, the lovely Zhanlle, the Kindly Amberdrake, Gesten and the others can turn the tide of war....for Good! This is a wonderfully written book - I give it 4 wingtips way up!
