Review:
This novel tells the story of a family of musicians who, as they travel the villages of Dalemark for their keep, run into a great number of troubles. A delightful children's tale, it revolves around Moril, who has a special talent of music that he does not understand. Deep in the South, with is brother thought hanged, his father murdered, and his mother married to another man who apparently she loved for some time, events seem more than enough to convince Moril to take his sister and their enigmatic passanger to the North. With little more than their wits and music, they must evade the evil Earl Tholian who wishes to start a civil war with the North. Moril's cwidder and it's magic at last prove themselves by saving them all in the most unlikely way and time.
It never ceases to amaze me how charming, but still intelligent, so many children's fantasy novels can be. Though it's targeted at adolescents, anyone with a free hour or two will surely delight in this tale as well.
