DragonLord Linden and his new wife Mauryanna are trying to life the new life of newly weds. But for Mauryanna things are a lot harder for her. Sense she went threw her first change her dragon half refuses to talk to her or anyone. She also can't change at will. Linden begins to doubt his love for her, but all has to be put aside as a new crisis occurs.

In a farther country there is a magical creature - the phoenix. It's old life is about to end so a new one must occur. The emperors of this country have tried to harness the power. Linden and Mauryanna are set to go over there to free the creature but there was another catch. They would have to face a dragon, oane they think is a DragonLord who has gone mad. This brings in the true dragons to go to fight for their kins freedom. As the war approaches, both Linden and Mauryanna must separate on their travels to succeed in the mission.

Unable for her to change Linden refuses to let his wife to go alone and send with her her friend Raven. Raven who is also mad that he has lost her to a DragonLord and must come to terms that he will never have her. While Linden is separated from her on his own part of the travels Mauryanna runs into a man named Shima, who turns out to be another DragonLord. Together he and Mauryanna work to end the quest and help her learn to change once again.

The second installment to this series is truly colorful. You can feel the emotions of the characters, the pain, the suffering. As I read the book there was nothing that I didn't enjoy reading. As the plot builds it makes you really want to flip to that last few chapters to see what happens.
