This book is the second of the Harper Hall Trilogy, and is part of the Dragonriders of Pern series.
When Menolly, daughter of Yanus Seaholder of Half Circle Sea Hold, arrived at Harper Hall, she was very much out of place. A girl with a wonderful talent for composing music, she also had 9 firelizards, the most coveted prize on all of Pern. She is placed in classes with the craftmasters and must demonstrate her abilities in each facet of music. While the craftmasters drill theory into her head, trouble brews for Menolly. Her talent gains her a few enemies, a few friends and a champion or two. Her firelizards, whilst getting her into some trouble, provide her with the opportunity of a lifetime. Bit to find out waht that is, you'll just have to read the book. I give it Four way up!
