Review: Its vacation and Harry is at his aunt and uncle's home. His life has become a bit more bearable since he's come back from his first yeaar at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They don't know he's not allowed to do magic, because he's a minor. But the a house-elf, Dobby, shows up, telling him not to go back to Hogwarts. Harry, of course, can't do that. Luckily Harry is saved by Ron and his twin brothers and he spends the rest of his vacation at their place.

Returning to school, things go back to the old ways, the lessons are still funny, interestingm boring or terrible. Until, at Halloween, the caretaker's cat is found petrified, next to the message "The Chamber of Secrets Has Been Opened. Enemies Of The Heir Beware!"

This is a kick-off to a chain of events that are just as exciting as the ones from last year. Except, at Hogwarts, these are still the "normal" things that happen. They have a new teacher for Defense Against the Dark Arts, Gilderoy Lockhart. Again, a weird teacher that makes you wonder where all Hogwarts teachers got their license to teach. The Quiddith season starts again - will they win this year? And of course, Harry's friends Ron and Hermione, are still there to help him when necessary.

For the second time, we are pulled into this great world of magic, where nothing is weird and everything is possible. This second book from the Harry Potter series has even more speed than the first one. Harry, Ron and Hermione have to face greater dangers than the first time. It's a good detective story and still has humor and the conspicuous characters. Things are explained that were unclear in the first book, but new secrets are revealed.

This book is certainly thrilling enough to keep you reading (maybe a bit too thrilling for very young readers!) The ambiguities and puns make it nice for the older readers, but the story is easy enough to follow for the young ones.

Everything that made the first book great comes back. All the magic, the good plot and unexpected events. It's a worthy successor and can be read apart from Book One. Again, a must-read for all fantasy and/or detective story lovers.
