Review: The first book in The Dark is Rising sequence. The story starts out describing a very ordinary holiday of 3 children to Cornwall, and the discovery of an ancient treasure map. Untill this point you might be excused in thinking this was a Enid Blyton book.

Then enters the bad guys, and a whole lot of trouble befall the children including some mystical happenings which only hint at what the future books have in store.

A great, if restrained start to a fantasic sequence, and a fantasic story in its own right. Aimed at readers 10 and up.
