A family deals with the death of a loved one. A
son goes to court over an inheritance. Another son agonizes
over his fathers deathbed confession. Two sisters make a vow
to not marry unless the other likes the suitor. A wife sacrifices
her life for her husband. Children come into the world and die.
The exception, the family's eat their deceased and everyone in the
story are dragons. In this story you have family's dealing with everyday struggles, politics, trains and courtship. Thought done the dragon way. The great and good see fit and are privileged to kill and eat weaker children as only the strong can survive and grow stronger by dong so. Courtship, where if the couple wishes or doesn't the female turns bride pink and must be wed or is left unrespectable. Families clash in this wonderful book as dowries are raised and conspires are risen. While couples wait for the right time to announce their engagement to family that disagrees on the match due to rank. This was one of the most interesting books I have ever had the privilege of reading. It was fast-paced and brilliant. There was no direct main character and you got to view what society possibly would have been like if you were a dragon. It gave an excellent view of families that even in todays society you can relate.
