From the ex-SAS soldier Chris Ryan a new series for the young adult. I found it a compulsive read and was glad to see that Ryan didn't lose his writting style in writting for a yonger audience.
The book tells of a miss-matched team on a cruise of a life time... when they get into trouble and are stranded on a deserted island. They have to start relying one each other to overcome life endangering situations and to simply just survive.
At the back of the book, Chris Ryan gives tips for surviving in extreme situations. The advice given is both common sense and specialist knowledge, but is aimed at a younger audience.
I found that I couldn't put this book down easyly. I just wanted to know what happened next. It was a little slow at the beginning, but then again the characters were being set up. The story developed well, although some of the situations felt a little unrealistic especially when you consider that they all happened to them on a 'deserted' island. It really inspired me to think constructivly and improvise.
