This is a nicely-done story which sees the Doctor launch Fitz and Compassion into an undercover operation while attempts to find the power source that drew his TARDIS to the planet.

There are some nice touches of humor, expecially in Compassion's icy attitude towards the cover names Fitz invented for them - Frank and Nancy (as in Sinatra). There is the almost obligatory Fitz love affair and the obligatory ignominious ending to it (which is becoming a touch wearisome) but the wonderful Compassion's sarcasm more than compensates for this.

The Doctor uncovers a nasty conspiracy with his usual aplomb and with the daredevil attitude that has come to characterise the 8th Doctor so much. Without settin the publishing world on fire, this book is still a good read.
