Free Fall is the third novel written by Kyle Mills and also the third featuring Mark Beamon, one of the most un-FBI like agents you will ever meet. I guess I should have started with the other 2 first, but we'll get to those later.

Mark Beamon has been suspended from the FBI for more than one reason (you have to read Rising Phoenix and Storming Heaven) to know why, so he is a bit in between things.

In the meantime, Tristan Darby, a rather insignificant government employee is working in the basement of the Smithsonian digging thru old files apparently looking for a misplaced FBI file. He works alone and unsupervised, except for an old curator type person to talk to. Little does Tristan know that when he unsuspectingly finds and reads the file, he sets things in motion that he can't stop - his murder being one of them.

The FBI, Presidential candidates, creepy government hit men accountable to who knows who, and a world class rock climbing girl on the run are all looking for one thing - the file. And Beamon is looking for the girl. He has been hired to bring her in - she has the file, doesn't she?

Darby Moore and Mark Beamon are quite a team. They travel from DC to Thailand to Wyoming to West Virginia. Along the way, the reader learns alot about rock climbing, the physical and psychological make up of these extraordinary people and what it takes to excel. And how it keeps Darby and Beamon alive.

This book is about trust, secrets and betrayal. It is definitely an all-nighter!
