Review: Clarice Starling has been contacted by John Brigham, special agent of the BATF. They finally know where Evelda Drumgo is. Evelda Drumgo earns money with making and selling drugs. But things don't go as planed when the action starts. Evelda has lead the hole team in to a trap. And contacted the media. Now there has to be someone to blame for the massacre. But who will it be...
Mason Venger is the only victim of Hannibal Lecter who still is alive and wants revenge. Hannibal made him eat the meat of his face. Doctors have tried to reconstruct his face afterwards but they didn't succeed. He is paralyzed from the neck down. He is on a respirator. And he finds his pleasure in making kids or his sister Margo cry. He is wealthy and has a reward for every one who has information of the whereabouts of Hannibal Lecter. He wants him for his own, to play god.
Hannibal who doesn't know him. One of the top 10 of the most wanted by the FBI. And still out of reach of the police and the federal agents. He has had a little plastic surgery. Removed the sixth finger on his hand and a few changes in his face. Free to do as he wants in Italy. He has taken the job of curator. Yes, taken from the former curator. And enjoying every minute of his new life. The special wines and other privileges which come with his new life. But how long will this disguise work? How long before he has to move again? To leave all this loved things behind? His musical instruments, the fine wines, the food, the life he wants to live.
I like this book. The beginning is nice. I wanted a little more action in the middle of the book. But the ending is great. All the action there. Things I did not expected there. The end alone makes it worthwhile to read the whole book. And for you people who want to read this book. Don't start at the end! The beginning, nice action, not about Hannibal but a nice introduction for Starling.
The book has a lot of thinking in it. It explains a lot of why people like certain things. Why Hannibal is specially interested in Starling, Why Margot hates her brother. This story is entirely different from the Silence of the Lamb's. And you find different aspects of Dr. Hannibal Lector. And in case you have seen the movie. Which one is better - the book or the movie? Decide for yourself...
