This is even worse than the one before it.

I wish I could explain it so you, gentle reader, would understand what the darn thing was trying to say. I have read it 3 times over the years, and it does not get any better.

I think that the original premise was that there is a superior race, called the Designers, who are, in some manner, orchestrating the growth, development, and demise of species on plantes throughout the known, and unknown galaxies. And they have come to the conclusion that earth is just about ready to check out. As is their own existence because every species is too aggressive and eventually will kill itself off anyway. Or some such nonsense.

It wouldn't be so bad except that is is written as if the reader is an idiot. It is very heavy handed, very "preachy" and difficult to understand. The language seems to try to be above all of us dumb mortals, but of course, Kirk and Spock and McCoy eventually figure it out and win the argument. Just goes to show that they are smarter than anyone else in the universe.

On this one, I would not recommend spending more than 50 cents and about 20 minutes. There are much better Trek books out there!
