The Star Empire is the Federation's most powerful new ship, a dreadnought (duh), capable of destroying a fleet of Klingon cruisers (or Starfleet heavy cruisers), or holding a galaxy.

The day after her construction was finished, Star Empire (what kind of name is that for a ship anyway?) was stolen by "terrorists" who demanded a rendezvous with the Enterprise (being the only starship in the area at the time...guess the rest of the Fleet was busy playing pingpong....) and that three of the Enterprise's personnel be sent over, specifically, Lieutenant Piper, a Command candidate on her first training cruise, and two others. The terrorists claim to have have stolen Star Empire for galactic peace. (dun dun).

This one broke a few of the standard rules for a Star Trek novel (a book based on an unknown character, unheard of tech, etc...Kirk was covered in like 4 pages) but it's still a goodie. It has a nice pace, and I actually LIKED the sub-plot! A must have for any Trek reader.
