In book five of this amazing tale of adventure and discovery, the Enterprise and the 60,000 colonists she so constantly risks her life to protect faces its most horrible battle yet.

Spock is nearly killed when he triggers an explosion from a soil sample that contains a strange siliconic-gel that is beginning to emerge from Belle Terre's soil without warning. This unique form of inert matter is spreading quickly throughout the planet; killing anyone in its path. Plants are dying at an increasing rate, and there may be nowhere to go.

Up above the planet in orbit of Belle Terre are the dozens of ships that served as home and life for the 60,000 colonists as they ventured out into space. Those ships have secretly been dismantled in space, and their parts funneled down to the colony below.

With only days to spare, can Scotty refit 50 ships and make a new home for thousands?

Down on the surface people are joining together in a battle against time to build shelters to keep out the siliconic-gel, but something else has been discovered - lightening from a simple storm can trigger a massive explosion of the gel.

Book Five of this increasingly fast pace life on Belle Terre is a great read for those gallant fans who dare venture beyond the final frontier. Are 5 pips really good enough?
