Synopsis: The final chapter in the Jedi Academy is a fitting finale to the Trilogy. With action and adventure from beginning to end, Luke again struggles against the Dark Side, now Chief of State Leia Organa Solo and the New Republic must fend off the remnants of the Empire and there is another Death Star.

Review: The story opens with Kyp Durron in posession of a powerful weapon, the Sun Crusher, and under the influence of the Sith Lord Exar Kun. He is off to do battle with the Empire and Admiral Daala, determined to destroy everything around him in an attempt to find and rescue his brother. Han Solo sets off to stop him while, on Yavin 4, Leia finds Luke still in his coma. Exar Kun exerts his influence on the Jedi trainees while Luke is trapped in "another plane of existance". In a surprising twist, Jacen and Jaina Solo come to the rescue. When all the trainees recognise exactly where the threat is coming from and they join forces, you will find yourself cheering them on in their battle with Exar Kun.

With Exar Kun finally out of the way, Kyp is released from the evil Sith Lord's influence and realises that he has been turning toward the Dark Side. The reader no sooner catches his breath from this adventure when Leia realises her youngest son Anakin, is in danger from the Empire. With Ackbar's help, she heads off on a rescue mission to the hidden planet Anoth. After that, its off to Kessel and the Maw Installation to deal with Admiral Daala and the threat of another Death Star

What I liked about this book is that the Exar Kum plot wasn't drawn out till the very end. The writer gave time for Luke and Kyp and the other Jedi trainees to deal with the results of what happened. There are also a lot of touching moments as well, as Leia is reunited with baby Anakin and Luke has to deal with the guilt-ridden Kyp. Although the author lets Admiral Daala get away to fight another day, the ending of this book on the planet Vortex is very satisfying all around.
