Old Friends: Han Solo, Leia Organa Solo, Lando Calrissian, R2-D2, C-3PO, Lobot, Ackbar, Antilles, Hiram Drayson, Colonel Pakkpekatt, Akanah, Nil Spaar, Ethan A'bath, Plat Mallar, Behn-Kihl-nahm, Captain Morano, Skids, Tsege Tuke Review: We start this book with a list of all the important characters from the first book. So we know who and what they are. This book is divided in three parts. We start with Lando, Lobot, R2-D2 and C-3PO and the their search on the unknown spacecraft. Then go to Luke and Akanah who search the galaxy for the Fallanassi. Followed by Han and Leia who have to save the New Republic from falling down. Lando, Lobot and the droids find a way to explore the spacecraft, but cannot find any one there or any traces of who was ever there. They find some sort of galaxy which contains the history of the builders of the spacecraft. But then now have lost their support outside the ship... Luke is flying with Akanah from Lucazec to the next planet where there may be a clue on where to find the Fallanassi and his mother. But with everything he finds out of the Fallanassi he has even more questions of his own. Like "How do they use there force, how skilled is Akanah in that force and why can't he find anything of the Fallanassi in any database?" When he asks Akanah about it, she says that the Fallanassi simply don't leave a trace for outsiders to follow. And Akanah doesn't like the way Luke uses the Force to kill even if it is to defend the people you love. Luke finds himself a student ones again in a Force he doesn't understand. Princess Leia Organa Solo, President of the Senate, Chief of State of the New Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Force has to keep the Senate and the Council satisfied about the way the New Republic handles new membership-applications, decisions about where the forces of the Republic should be and who to defend first. The bureaucrats don't like her anymore, and Leia needs all her diplomatic skills to not start a fight and please everyone in the Senate and the Councils. Then Behn-kihl-nahm, a senator, has to go to the Memorial Corridor to the Senate Hall and gives the order that a sign has to be taken down. A sign that said "1000 DAYS WITHOUT A SHOT FIRED IN ANGER Remember, Peace Is No Accident".... Han is worried about Leia. she only thinks of her job. And a difficult job that has become. But she also is a wife and a mother, what Han tries to make her realize. But for those few moments that Leia is home relaxing or they have lunch as a family, they are like a real family. But then Han is given the temporary rank of Commodore, against his will, and he has to go to order the Fleet in the Farlax sector. On his way to his fleet, he gets pulled out of hyperspace by half a dozen Yevethan ships waiting for them. I think that this is a great book. Even though it has three main chapters, each has it s own section. This way you don't get some action here with Han and have to wait till you finally know what happened to Luke. But you can really get into the action of one of the main characters. Seen as a trilogy, the first book is mostly used for introduction, the second to really get the story going and the final to finish it. I think that this book has enough action in it. It is not a book for peeps who only like space fights. This books shows us aspects of how other people can interpret the way of the Jedi and the way the New Republic is ruled these days. Why people can be selected for certain jobs, if they have enough applications. If you want to fight for the New Republic you have to have the right papers, the right education and must be a citizen of the New Republic. The will to fight for what is, in your eyes a good cause, can't help you there. These are no longer the days of the war between the rebels and the empire.
