Synopsis: Following immediately after Heir to the Empire, this second installment concentrates on Jorus C'Baoth and Luke Slywalker, and Leia's newfound relationship with the Noghri homeworld as our heroes once more battle with the Empire.

Review: The 2nd volume of the Thrawn Trilogy picks up where the 1st one ended. Talon Karrde comes to the very uncomfortable realization that remaining neutral is more trouble than originally anticipated, and the Empire has put a price on his head. Luke goes in search of Jorus C'Boath and Leia journeys to Hohoghr on a secret diplomatic mission that will put her and the Jedi twins she is carrying in danger. The reader also learns much more about the origins and disappearance of the Katana Fleet and the mysterious Garm Bel Iblis.

The story gives us more depth to the films, the "what might have been", as well as expanding the characters relationships and future possibilities. We find this story concentrates mainly on the new characters, and further builds their backgrounds into the storyline. It is also clever in the way the author keeps Mara Jade constantly in Luke Skywalkers path, and how she and Talon Karrde find themselves reluctantly joining forces with the Rebels.

There is plenty of action and ups and downs as the New Rebel Alliance realizes just what kind of a true threat Grand Admiral Thrawn is. The story will leave you hanging - "What will his next move be?" - almost like a chess game. With all the odds stacked against them, can Luke and Leia, Han and Chewbacca actually defeat the Empire? Will their new friends help, or change sides when they least expect it? You will just have to read the next book to find out.

Synopsis: The threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn continues in this book, and elevates to a higher level. This book takes place right after the first book, "Heir To The Empire."

Review: The Galaxy has never been so dangerous as before. The presence of Grand Admiral Thrawn is a tactical threat to the New Republic. The military mastermind is frustrating and thwarting all attacks by his opponents. He has a large fleet at his command, with objectives to destroy the New Republic. Meanwhile, traitors lurk inside the New Republic Government. And an ancient, long forgotten group of warships called the Katana Fleet, if found, could spell destruction to the New Republic and victory to the Empire. On top of that, Luke Skywalker is forced to face the insane, Dark Jedi Master Jorrus C'Boath, who is seeking to turn Luke to the Dark Side and into his student...

Good book! This book is easy to read, making the reader want to pick the book off of the shelf. It's another exciting novel that defines "Star Wars" and keeps the reader questioning how, possibly, could the New Republic fight off this threat, which was worse than even the Death Star? Read on!
